Our commitment to a sustainable screen industry
Here in Wales, we do things differently. Our approach is shaped by the Well-being of Future Generations Act, a Welsh law that ensures every decision considers its long-term impact on our environment, economy, society, and culture.
We want to grow the screen sector in Wales in the most sustainable and responsible way possible. We encourage all productions filming here to embed sustainable practices to reduce carbon emissions, minimise waste and support a fair, diverse and resilient workforce.
Together with partners, we are proud to support the Screen New Deal Transformation Plan for Wales, a national roadmap designed to help film and TV productions work towards net-zero emissions and zero-waste. Developed by Arup and BAFTA albert with support from the BFI, the plan focuses on key areas such as energy use, waste management, transport and fostering a culture of sustainability.
Our participation, alongside partners Media Cymru and Ffilm Cymru Wales, is firmly aligned with the Well-being of Future Generations Act. Through our continued investment in sustainable production and projects, we are helping to shape a more resilient, fair and environmentally responsible screen sector in Wales.
