CRIW Production Apprenticeship Programme in North and South Wales

For those keen to work behind the scenes on some of Wales' top TV and film productions, CRIW offers an interesting apprenticeship scheme. Successful applicants will receive paid, hands-on experience across a variety of productions for a period of 12 months. Previous productions include His Dark Materials, Steeltown Murders and Blackcake.

Buzz Culture Outreach Programme

This programme, previously supported by us, helps people aged 18-30 living in Wales who want to get ahead in the creative industries. Over the course of eight weeks, this project provides the opportunity to develop writing skills, meet creatives and build your professional network.

rad Cymru Wales

We've partnered with TRC, the BBC, Channel 4 and S4C to launch a new training programme aiming to tackle the lack of diversity in broadcasting in Wales. This eight-month paid programme will be available for eight trainees who will work within Welsh independent production companies. The traineeship is aimed at people who are under-represented in the TV industry, specifically people from Black, Asian or ethnic minority communities, those from disadvantaged backgrounds and people with disabilities.

Factual Fast Track Wales

This project is a partnership between Creative Wales and BBC Cymru Wales, Channel 4 and S4C designed to support talented factual producers in Wales. Successful applicants will gain industry training and paid production training, alongside commissioner and peer mentoring. Two of the six places will be earmarked for Welsh speakers. 

 

National Film and Television School (NFTS) Hub Cymru-Wales

This hub is a partnership between Creative Wales, BBC Wales and the NFTS. Based at BBC Wales in Cardiff's Central Square, this project delivers a wide range of world-class training courses. Welsh Government funded bursaries are available for all courses.

Stepping Up 2022

Run by Sgil Cymru and jointly funded by Screen Skills, this partnership programme focuses on helping existing freelance TV drama crew take the next step in their careers.

Iechyd Da, CULT Cymru

CULT Cymru offer a variety of mentoring and training opportunities for those working in the film and TV industry. These include mental health and diversity training and wellbeing facilitator training. Explore their website to find out what learning opportunities are available.

Culture Connect Wales 

This project is a partnership between Creative Wales and broadcasters, BBC Cymru, Channel 4, ITV and S4C. It will deliver a 12-month programme aiming to support diverse talent across Wales find opportunities in film and TV. It is designed to offer advice and support to those who want to change careers, as well as those looking for new opportunities.

Creative Skills Body 

Covering the screen, digital and music sectors, the Creative Skills Body is a new Welsh Government programme sitting within Creative Wales. It will be led by an advisory panel who will create a three year action plan. As part of this, a new skills fund will also launch to deliver against the plan's priorities. This initiative is still in the works – check back soon for more information. 

Creative Flexible Skills Programme 

Funded by Welsh Government, this initiative is designed to encourage and support the development of a company’s employees' skills in the Creative Sector. It can provide a financial contribution towards the training costs of a Wales-based employer’s staff. From craft, production and post-production training to the use of new technology for your company, this programme aims to upskill your creatives.
